My Hope

Before you knew me I was there
Waiting for you to become aware
Of the message I had to share with you
That spoke of love, and hope and all things true

I have walked by your side holding your hands
Watching you grow into loyal fans
Smiling as you danced to Billie Jean
More loving hearts I have never seen

Together we grew into a beautiful tree
Watered by love for the world to see
Its branches grew, giving comfort and shade
A haven of peace so joyfully made

And when the world tried to tear me down
Just when I thought there was no-one around
You held my hand and stood by my side
With love, honor and so much pride

When my spirits fell through other’s blame
Yours lifted me up above the pain
And all could see that I was not alone
Your love for me was clearly shown

Through all these years we have been together
Believing that it would last forever
Until one day I heard my name being called
And I could not deny the voice of our Lord

I was pulled towards his loving arms
With joy and sadness walking arm in arm
From this Earth it was hard to depart
For behind me I would leave your broken hearts

Your tears rain down upon this place
As my absence from life you try to face
Please know I’m not that far from you at all
Really all you need to do is call

I promised that we would never part
Believe those words with all your heart
I am with you now and in each new day
Look for my star to guide your way

You surround my heart on David’s canvas
Bringing me hope and so much gladness
That what I stood for will never die
Even if some still dare to try

So spread my message in all you do
And water our tree with love and truth
Find your strength through God’s loving grace
And make this world a better place

Above All

I watched you from afar through the years
A nameless face in a sea of tears
Crying for joy with each new song
Forever in my heart you came to belong

From boy to man I loved you more
I came to believe in what you stood for
I vowed to follow the example you set
Your hopes and dreams I tried to protect

The message you sent I tended with care
Even though you were not aware
That on a distant shore, and out of reach
Your inspiring words I tried to teach

I dreamed of the day that we might meet
My face and heart you would joyfully greet
A lasting friendship between us would grow
The seeds of trust I would carefully sow

I carried this dream and hoped to dare
But the distance between us grew each year
I saw you rise to become a King
Of pop and hearts and souls within

In vain I called your name out loud
But how could you hear from above the crowds
Or see the nameless face I wore
And feel how much I loved you more

My tears streamed down as I counted the cost
Of dreams and hope I felt I had lost
And in the end, all I had left
Was a broken heart as they laid you to rest

Then by chance I found my way
To a place where I could openly say
How much I missed not having you here
And the guilt I felt for not being there

I connected with others who felt the same
And through our dots we ignited a flame
Now it burns on David’s canvas
Bright with love’s golden harness

Now my broken heart can mend
Through the Portrait, you have become my friend
My face now has a name you can call
Now you know I love you above all

You Are Gone

What is this heart of mine, but an open field of grief?
Watered by the rains of loneliness
Each beat rushes blood through my veins in painful reminder

You are gone

I have drifted through the cycle of seasons knowing this
Deep inside me I have known you won’t return
Ne’er the less I have floated on foolish hope
For when I feel your presence surround me
How can I believe

You are gone

Don’t you see my love?
How my torment burns through reason?
This fervent need in me won’t rest
To seek you in all I do and all I am
Consumes each waking moment
In dreams I am drawn into love divine
And lay upon your bed to rest
But then I wake to find

You are gone

Swimming between these islands of thought
I am left adrift
Unable to choose just one existence in which to live
For when the agony of knowledge invades my soul
I quietly slip into my haven, my refuge
Where denial brings me you
As you were and still are within my heart
From this I draw strength to face that moment
When I step once more into the mortal realm to find

You are gone

Why?

Time heals they say, but my wound still bleeds
My thoughts are constant, unceasing
They are always reaching out seeking the essence that is you
You are in my blood, in every heartbeat and breath
Everywhere I look every song I sing, every movement I make
You are there

I am lost in you, struggling to find a way out from under your wings
From your arms that still hold me tight, from the whispers in the night
Your breath is still upon my face, but the feeling of ever is no more

Memories linger and my life hurts more everyday you are gone
You slipped away from me in silence and haste
And if you were here in this moment with me, I would ask you why
When words I spoke and with gentle hands I touched
Was it not enough to keep you close?

There were no goodbyes, no uttered regrets
Just a fading from sight and the flashes of fire were gone
The feeling of belonging an idea once dreamt
The absence of hands and bodies touching
Of lips skimming over skin and minds, eyes lingering softly
Fills my nights with restless motion and my days with unfocused sight

The endlessness I feel flows through my fears
Of loneliness and pain and questions how
When love once shared in light and pure soul
Could fall into the black of human blindness
Leaving me to bleed from the inside out asking, always asking, why?

Michael you are my truth and hope, you are my heart and love. As long as one single breath remains in my body, I will carry your message and voice to the world. Your legacy will live on.
RIP My Forever King.

Words

If I had the words to explain how I feel
I would paint them on the sky for everyone to see
And stitch them upon tapestries in crimson and gold
Then hang them from the stars

I would sing them to the night and the breaking dawn
Place them upon the wind with the whispers of my heart
And dance them upon the minds of all who would hear
In sweet musical dreams

In the quiet, in the stillness, surrounded by this life
I would speak the words I search for and say
There are no words to explain how I feel
I simply love you!

I Will Remember

You will always be the brightest star in my night
Your smile will remain the sweetest in my heart
No other will ever dance upon my stage
Or sing to my soul so completely as you
A single figure upon the stage
One spotlight shining down
Your face in shadows, hat slouched low
Poised and waiting to streak across our lives
With flashes of fire and movement
This is how I will always remember you
Thank you, Michael, for sharing your beautiful heart and talent with us.
